The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) demanded the Central government to restart production in selected NTC mills that are viable in a phased manner at which production had stopped since the first lockdown period and pay the pending wages immediately.
A delegation of BMS led by Sri B. Surendran, All India Organising Secretary met Sri Giri Raj Singh, Hon. Union Minister for Textile on 29th July 2024 at Delhi and made several suggestions to restart the production in closed mills. Sri Anish Mishra, All India Deputy Treasurer and Dr.Deepender Chahar , General Secretary of BMS Delhi Pradesh were the members of the delegation .
BMS demanded to restart production in 4 mills of Tamil Nadu, 2 Mills of Kerala, 2 mills of Maharashtra, and one mill each in Puducherry, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Regarding this BMS has written a letter to Union Textile Minister Sri Giriraj Singh requesting to take a positive decision as thousands of workers are suffering.
The Minister spent sufficient time ,patiently heard the suggestions made by BMS and also discussed the ” pros& cons” of financial burden. He responded positively .
BMS suggested various measures to restart production in NTC mills and measures to come out of the crisis. It suggested changing the production strategy and Marketing strategy and start production in a phased manner. In the first phase, modernized & semi-modernized mills can start production. In the second phase, some mills can be started. A separate strategy has to be formulated for the mills which have old machinery.
