Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh demanded extension of MGNREGA for 200 days for each family and
suggested inclusion of agriculture and allied sector work in MGNREGA.
Sh. B. Surendran, All India Organising Secretary of BMS demanded enhancement of honorarium
of scheme workers, especially for Asha, Aanganwadi, Midday Meal and NHM workers, while
speaking during the Pre budget consultation at the Ministry of Finance on June 24, 2024 chaired
by Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman Ji.
BMS suggested that the Union Budget 2024-25 must focus on – Rural development,
MSMEs, Manufacturing, Exports and Infrastructure Development.
Further the BMS has raised the following demands for Immediate consideration by the
Finance Minister:
Minimum assured pension: BMS demanded a 50% assured pension of the last salary drawn +
DA under all schemes that has to be ensured. BMS suggested to the finance minister to restore
the OPS.
BMS has demanded that the government must ensure provision of adequate funding for Beedi
and other unorganised sector welfare boards.
BMS demanded a minimum monthly pension of INR 5000 + VDA along with benefits of
Ayushman Bharat for all EPS 95 pensioners.
Employment generation: Employment generation is necessary to benefit from the demographic
dividend. BMS demanded that the central government must take quick steps to fill all vacancies
under the central government which currently stand close to 20 lakhs.
At the same time it demanded that the government must create permanent posts for sanitary and
sewerage workers in municipalities and panchayats and regularise of all contract workers in the
arena working for over two decades.
BMS demanded that the government starts entrepreneur development centres in all district
headquarters. India is a young country with lots of potential. Entrepreneurship development
will help India grow while also fulfilling aspirations of the young India.
Constitution of 8th pay commission: BMS demanded that the 08th pay commission must be
constituted with appropriate persons as part of the commission soon.
BMS demanded enhancement of the income tax limit to give relief to the middle class.
It was a really productive consultation. The Finance Minister has given ample time out of her
busy schedule and listened to and interacted with all trade unions patiently after which she
responded positively to our demands.
BMS thanks the Finance ministry for organising this consultation and listening to trade unions
point of view respecting the voice of labour and the tripartite mechanisms.
