Unions must understand the changing world of work and adopt accordingly to be able to protect the workers in this transition phase.- Shri.Hiranmay Pandya (President ,BMS)

Sh. Hiranmay Pandya, president, BMS spoke at the 1st regional dialogue on Social Justice organised jointly by the Labour Ministry, Confederation of Indian Industries and Employers Federation of India. The dialogue was held within the ambit of the Global Coalition for Social Justice, an initiative of the ILO in tripartite plus model.
He welcomed the DG, ILO Mr. Gilbert Hounghbo who had joined him on the stage alongside the Hon’ble Labour Minister, MOS Labour, Labour Secretary, DG – ESIC, Permanent Representative of INDIA to UN – Sh. ARINDAM Bagchi and CII representative Mr. sahil Dharia.
Sh. Pandya talked about the GCSJ and announced the will of BMS to join the coalition. He discussed the need for responsible business conduct and emphasised that social dialogue and tripartism are the answer to inclusive policy making. He also discussed the need to work together towards fulfillment of SDG 8 on decent work and SDG 10 on reducing inequalities.
He also congratulated the ESIC on completing 74 years in service of the people and emphasised on the need to expand coverage.
In his speech he noted that AI is here and it’s here to stay and we as unions must understand the changing world of work and adopt accordingly to be able to protect the workers in this transition phase.
Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, Trade Union Coordination Centre and National Front of Indian Trade Unions joined the Global Coalition for Social Justice in presence of ILO DG
